Toyota Manufacturing commissioned Swath Design to create a moving memorial exhibit, “1,000 Cranes,” honoring the legacy of Luis Alcantara, Group Vice President of Vehicle Production Engineering and other team members that have since passed away. The exhibit comprises folded origami cranes made by Toyota team members around the globe. The cranes, a symbol of peace and hope in Japanese culture, are a poignant tribute to Alcantara’s life and work.
1,000 Cranes is an immersive diorama that reflects the harmonious blend of Japanese and American cultures with a subtle, poetic ambiance. It celebrates the importance of diversity and cultural exchange and serves as a reminder of Alcantara’s legacy and Toyota’s impact on the Georgetown community. Swath Design’s thoughtful curation and refined design ensure that the exhibit will stand as a lasting tribute.
