The Ohio State University expanded its Arts District first with the construction of the Timasheve Family Music Building and followed quickly with the construction of the Department of Theatre, Film, and Media Arts Building. The theater building features a 400-seat theater, a 130-seat theater, and spaces for moving image production and theater education. Designed to invite public engagement, the performance and production areas open to the street and shared arts plaza.
In their role as the wayfinding and signage designers for the project, Swath infused a theatrical spirit into their work through their clever use of color, shape, and use of building fabric patterns. Their dynamic graphic system not only brings the concept of theater to life but also harmonizes with the architectural and interior finishes, all while respecting the university’s established standards.
